Research

The main goal of Steven Barrett's research is to advance understanding of the environmental impacts of aviation, and to develop technological, fuel-based and regulatory strategies to mitigate these impacts. His research areas include:

  • Electric aircraft design
  • Electric aircraft propulsion
  • Impacts of aircraft noise
  • Air pollution impacts of ground transportation

Most of the research Steven Barrett is involved in is undertaken in the MIT Laboratory for Aviation and the Environment and/or as part of the MIT Electric Aircraft Initiative.
